The Shape of Lent

Lent at St. B’s

Originally the early church used the 40 days of lent as a time of preparation for Baptism. Over time it became a time of penitence, self-examination, and special devotion for all Christians. The word lent comes from the old english word meaning “spring."  Lent, like spring, is a season of renewal.

To help open us up to God's renewing work during Lent, Fr. Sammy has invited us to take up three simple practices: Pray 20 minutes a day. Worship 1 hour a week. Serve 1 day a month.

Worship. Pray. Serve.

We hope that The Shape of Lent, a guide that contains prayers, fasts, and acts of service, will help you with these practices.

Download the guide or pick up a hard copy at the church.
